LM5019: Efficiency variation max/min

Hello,

There is a efficiency graph in figure 1 of datasheet. When 48Vin 100mAoutput, we can read the efficiency is around 80%.

In this configuration, how much efficiency is varied? We care about power consumption so we would like to know it.

Hi,

I think it's also depend on external components you choose such as inductor, etc.
You can try webench and entered in your configuration and see the efficiency curve for your configuration

On the right hand side there is a design tool and you can enter your configuration there

Hello, Arief-san,
I tried Webench but I think the efficiency shows typcal value. When the typcal value determined, how much the efficiency is varied?
It would be helpful to show the reference number like +/-0.5% or something.

Hi,

I dont think we can quantify the LM5019 variation by itself because there is also variation from the selected inductor.
If we only consider the Rdson losses on the datasheet, then you can see how much the variation on the Rdsontypical to Rdson max using I^2*R
You can try also using webench to test the part at different ambient temperature and see how much efficiency is difference

Hello,
How accurate Webench efficiency result? The customer changed different DCR inductors and simulate the efficiency. The efficiency variation was only 0.1 to 0.2%. We want to know if we can believe this result.

Hi,

Normally, webench result is verified with bench.
I did not work on the product development on this specific part, therefore i did not know how far they differ between bench and webench.
I would say that you can test your design in the EVM and see how much is the expected efficiency in your design as a first prototype.
