TPS7A7002: Output capacitance

Dear TI,

Is there any problem for output capacitance over 200uF.

I intend to use this IC as a cellular module power supply and manufacturer recommended 2mF input capacitance.

A large capacitor looks like a short. The internal current limit of this device should allow this; see section 7.3.1 of the datasheet.

However, 2000 µF is outside the limit for which stability is guaranteed; and how are you going to ensure the ESR limits?

Hi Lucas,

As Clemens Ladisch mentioned both the input and output capacitances are outside of our capacitor limits.

Does your application require the full 3 A rating of the device? If not TPS7A92 which is rated for 2 A may be a better fit for your application as it does not have the same capacitor restrictions. If you do require the 3 A rating, please consider TPS7A84A.
