BQ25601: EMC class B standard

Part Number: BQ25601

Hi Team,

My customer is evaluating the BQ25601 for a handheld LTE/WiFi commissioning tool.

They would like to know if the EMC performance of this chip has been verified as their product needs to meet the Class B standard?

Also, they’ve noticed on bq25601evm-877 that output voltage on the system jumps from 3.5 to 4.2V when they connect the power supply on the Vbus side without the battery. It’s not stable and was wondering if it’s related to the settings or it is normal behavior?

Thanks.

  • Hi Carlo,

The EMC performance is highly dependent on the layout. Please follow the layout guideline one section 11. I would recommend to add a X7R 0.1nF 0402 on PMID with minimal loop to IC.

The voltage jump to 4.2V is normal as the charger is charging enabled. The voltage on BAT will be charged to 4.2V quickly if there is no battery connected. Once the charing is terminated, the BAT voltage would start to fall. Next cycle will start. Once the battery is connected, you will get different observation as the BAT voltage can't go to 4.2V quickly.
