TPS61032: TPS61032

Part Number: TPS61032

Dear,

I have just built the circuit backup power for Raspberry. When 5V turn off, the boost supply the power for Rpi.

Setup the test: EN_Boost is purple, Yellow is 5V, Blue is 5V_Bat, Green is the 5 Volt on Rpi pin.

EN_Boost  control by Silabs MCU.

- When I turn off the 5V, The boost took 60ms to reach 5V (Volt on 5V_Bat).

- The datasheet doesn't mention about the startup time.

- Is the boost IC need 60ms to startup or I was wrong in somewhere?

Please help me.

  • Hi Phuoc,

Thanks for uploading these information and waveform.
I'll check the start up time with EVM with prebiased output voltage tomorrow and let you know the result.
  • Hi Phuoc,

Please see the below wavefrom. Give Vout a pre-biased 4V and Vin is 3.2V. The device will start switching around 40us after EN pin is pulled high.

You test result is quite strange. Please do another test and measure Vin_Boost, EN_Boost, 5V_Bat, SW to see why the output voltage ramps up so slow.

Another question, what's the load current of Rasoberry Model?

  • Hi Zack Liu,

    Thank for your reply.

I have just checked and saw the issue.

That issue is the V_En, The V_En should 80% of volt input on the boost IC per recommend.

But in my setup, the V_En control by MCU (3.3V Max), so if the Vin_Boost over 4.1V, so it can't start.

When the 5V cut off, then the Vin_Boost go down slowly to the battery voltage. plus the battery volt can over 4.1 once full battery also.

So that why the Boost can't start.

    I fixed this issue.

    Thank you very much!
