PTH04T221W: RoHS status of active surface mount version

Part Number: PTH04T221W

You seem to have discontinued PTH04T221WAZ while PTH04T221WAS is still available. The PACKAGING INFORMATION table in the datasheet says *WAS has SNPB balls, but another column says "RoHS (In Work) & Green (In Work)".

Digikey and others says that part is not RoHS compliant.

1. Do you claim that this part is somehow exempt from the lead free requirement of RoHS?

2. If so, exactly what exemption do you refer to?

3. What is your definition of the term "In Work" that is used in this table?

Best regards

  • Hello Per,
Both the PTH04T221WAS and WAZ are still Active devices.
The WAS has SNPb solder balls while the WAZ has Pb-free solder balls.
Digikey is correct that the WAS is not RoHS compliant. The WAS should not list RoHS (In Work), this is an error.
The WAZ is RoHS compliant. The "In Work" is a sytem error that populates the table in the datasheet.
  • Thank you J Arrigo.

I apologize for the incorrect statement about it not being active (that was based on faulty information I got from a purchaser).

Good to know the real RoHS status of the WAS anyway. I hope you will update your datasheet accordingly.

    Best regards
