TPS65631: Timing issue

Part Number: TPS65631

Hello,

Customer has met a timing issue of TPS65633BK, do we have to wait a time of tINIT + tVO2(SCP) then we can start digital

programming procedure? As the total time is >10ms, every programming procedure is inconvenient.

What if we start digital programming after tINIT ?

  • Hi,

I have notified our expert regarding this topic. Please expect a response by 3/20/19.

    Thanks,
    Aaron
  • Hello Chen,
If desired, programming can be started after Tinit but the ELVSS will not start ramping down to -4V until after Tinit+Tvo2(scp) have elapsed.
For ELVSS, if some value other other than default of -4V is programmed, the device will first ramp to -4V and than start ramping to the newly programmed value. So effectively, it is almost the same as if programming is started after Tinit+Tvo2(scp) have elapsed.
I hope this answers you query.
    Kind Regards,

  • Hi Liaqat,

Thanks for your reply! So if the programming process is before Tinit+Tvo2(scp) and after Tinit, the programming could start after Tinit+Tvo2(scp)? The distinction between this operation and programming is started after Tinit+Tvo2(scp) have elapsed is this operation saves programming process time? Is it right?

    Best Regards.

  • Hi Chen,

The programming could start after Tinit but it will not take effect until Tinit+Tvo2(scp) time has passed. The only time one will save by programming after Tinit (but before Tvo2(scp)) will be the programming time which is, assuming a typical 20us pulse period is used, would be about 1ms for 50 pulses. So customer will typically save less than 1ms by starting to program before Tinit+Tvo2(scp) have passed.

To answer your question more directly:

The distinction between this operation and programming is started after Tinit+Tvo2(scp) have elapsed is this operation saves programming process time? Is it right?
    -----------------------------------------------------

    yes, that is right.
