TPS65145: TPS65145 question about the cause of VBAIS voltage becoming 8V?

Dear support member,

I have a question.

From the circuit diagram below
I made a board of TPS65145.

(Situation)
VOFS and VRST output 8.5V and -10V, respectively, but VBIAS was 8V.
The voltage of FB3 was 0.6V.


(Question)
Could you tell me the cause?
Why is FB3 going to 0.6V?

    This schematic ( TIDA-00570_2514439b_HI-SPEED_WQXGA_DMD_BOARD_ESD.pdf )was in a voltage tripler mode.

    This schematic changed to doubler mode, but FB3 stay 0.6V.

    Removed R26 and R27 from this schematic (TIDA-00570_2514439b_HI-SPEED_WQXGA_DMD_BOARD_ESD. Pdf).

    (Result)
    As a result was VBIAS output 16V, FB3 output 1.21V.


    (Schematic)
    Removed R26 and R27.
    Q7 used MMBT2907A.
    Q8 used MMBT2222A.
    Q9 used MMBT2222A.

    I used same this schematic (TIDA-00570_2514439b_HI-SPEED_WQXGA_DMD_BOARD_ESD. Pdf).

    (Question)
    Could you tell me some advice on how to fix this circuit?

  • Hello Bob,

    I reviewed this thread and schematics and it seems that VBIAS and FB3 were low due to overload condition at VBIAS output. After removing the overload VBIAS seems to be working fine. So there is no issue with TPS65145 circuit and unfortunately, I am not familiar with this DLP reference design. We will try to involve appropriate team who may be familiar with this reference design.
