Hello team,

Customer application is a device that can run up to 48Vdc and near 50Amps.  They use PWM controls to vary the voltage going to the device which regulates the temperature. These devices are sensitive to rapid changes in voltage, so they use LC filters on the PWM pulses to provide a smooth transition. 

Customer thought of tying two DRV8412/DRV8432 devices after the LC filter there would not be timing issues, but may have level balance issues.

However they require SPI interfaces which they do not have on the current board.

External N channel FETs could work + H-Bridge architecture is required because the application is for cooling and heat mode.

Now would UCC27714 or LM5107 or LMG1205 be a better option?

    Hello Randhir,

    Thank you for considering TI gate drivers for the customer application. To comment on what may be the best solution I would need to see a block diagram or basic schematic of the control interface, driver and power stage, and load. Also the input voltage range and output voltage/current range.

    The DRV84x2 devices have many features integrated but I do not know if they can support the 50A you mention. If you need detail information on these parts, I will need to assign to the experts on these devices.

    The UCC27714, UCC27712 will have high enough voltage range to support this application with >600V rating on the HB pins. These drivers can drive MOSFETs or IGBTs that can support the 50A. These drivers are high voltage capable but have propagation delays longer than the 100V half bridge drivers. If the switching frequency is not high (>200-300kHz) these drivers can be a good choice.

    The 100V drivers LM5107, LM5109, UCC27282, can be a good choice if the input voltage results in the switch node being <~100V rating. If the input voltage to the half bridge power stage is 48V these devices should be considered as well. The new UCC27282 driver includes the input interlock feature which will prevent the high side and low side MOSFET being on at the same time. This may be a good feature for this application. The UCC27712 has this feature as well.

    To comment further, I would need to see a diagram of the architecture, input and output voltage range, and operating frequency range.
