BQ24073EVM: How to identify SDP 100mA mode(low power)

Part Number: BQ24073EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24073

Dear Sir,

I am designing Cradle for TWS to use BQ24073.

BATTERY 4.2V 350mA li-ion, and Charging current is 200mA.

I have some question, I will set input current limit 100mA or 500mA.

when USB 2.0 (SDP) connected as below picture at 100mA mode.

1. how to identify 100mA or 500mA. I think I can set input current limit 100mA or 500mA after SDP identify 100mA or 500mA.

2. can you explain about "digital negotiation" or do you have any document?

  • Hi,

For USB BC1.2 detection specification, you need negotiation via D+/D- interface.

But due to there is no D+/D- pin in BQ24073, so this negotiation should finish by your host (MCU).

And after your host confirm which USB power source is connected, you can control BQ24073's EN1/EN2 pin and ILIM pin setting to program input current limit value.

    Thanks
