TL783: TL783 current sinking question

Part Number: TL783

Hello, I am trying to make a PWM motor control, like in the picture below, but I have some questions:

would there be any problems paralleling 4 TL783 for a 1.6 A current?

I looked through previous questions and in one of them somebody from TI answered that there would not be any problem paralleling the ICs, but since I am trying to use PWM would that cause any problems with the regulators?

Also I would like to know the voltage drop from point A to ground, I think I read it is 4v in another answered question but I am not sure, maybe I missed it while reading the datasheet.

  • Hi Bryan,

As  mentioned in this post, there should not be an issue with paralleling multiple TL783 regulators.  Keep in mind that the current flowing through the regulator will be equal the reference voltage of the individual device divided by the resistor.  The currents may not be equal between each regulator and resistor pair.

The voltage seen at the IN pin of the TL783 will depend on the voltage drop across the load, or in your case the voltage drop across your selected motor and PWM FET.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Hello, thanks for your answer!
yeah I thought so but I was insecure because I thought that maybe the regulators may malfuction during the off time of the PWM mosfet.
