TPS7A4201: Reverse current protection

Part Number: TPS7A4201

Hi teams!

Does  TPS7A4201 have reverse current protection?

Best regards.

Higa

  • Hi Higa,

No TPS7A4201 does not have a dedicated reverse current protection. Devices with a dedicated reverse current protection circuit will state this feature in the datasheet. It should be assumed that any device that does not stating reverse current protection has no internal reverse current protection.

If you expect a reverse current scenario to occur in your application (Vin < Vout), then you should provide external reverse current protection. Commonly this is done by placing a Schottky diode from OUT to IN. A Schottky diode is used due to its low forward voltage characteristics to provide a robust path for the reverse current.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
