LMG1020: Maximum operating frequency

Part Number: LMG1020

Hello Team,

the maximum operating frequency of the LMG1020 is 60MHz,

The MOSFET are capable of high current and Ivdd grows with the frequency.

Running the LMG1020 at 80MHz is a no go (is out of spec), or the part may ran at that frequency limiting current on the MOS?

Which parameter will degrades?

Will the part survive or the internal powering architecture cannot support at all that frequency?

The package is quite small so I would assume that there are some power dissipation limitations.

I take for grant that 80MHz is out of spec and we will not guarantee any value outside it.

Just checking under the hood...

Thanks,

SunSet

  • Hey SunSet,

You hit the nail on the head...

It's all about power dissipation. Maximum switching frequency is dependent on the circuit used (switching element), gate resistor, power supply voltage.

We are in final review on an app note to discuss this in further detail. It should be posted to www.ti.com in the next few weeks. Set up an Alert on the LMG1020 product folder to be alerted when we add it.
