UCC2893: the difference between UCC2891 and UCC2893

Part Number: UCC2893
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2891

Hi all,

Is the difference between UCC2891 and UCC2893 IC internal elements is only Active L and Active H of AUX terminal?
In short, the difference of IC in Active Clamp Forward Low side Clamp circuit and Active Clamp Flyback High side Clamp circuit is only Active L and Active H of Output terminal for Clamp?

  • Hi Hiroshi,

I am looking at these two devices, please give me a little time to answer you. Thanks.

  • Teng-san,

I want this answer within today.

    Can you?

    Or someone else?

  • Hi Hiroshi,

Yes, the only difference between UCC2891 and UCC2893 is whether it has a P-channel auxiliary switch or a N-channel auxiliary switch.
Both flyback and forword topology can make use of either the high-side or the low-side clamp arrangement. Depending on the choice of the clamp circuit, the gate drive requirements of the auxiliary switch are different. If a high-side clamp is selected, you should chose UCC2893 that has a N-channel auxiliary switch. If a low-side clamp is selected, you should chose UCC2891 that has a P-channel auxiliary switch.
