TPS62050: TPS62050DGS output ripple issue

Part Number: TPS62050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62054

Dear Ti Expert,

We are working on a DC/DC converter circuit based on TPS62050DGS (refer to schematic below). The input to the converter is 4VDC , while the output is designed to deliver 1.8V@800mA. With a load connected to the converter output, which draws about 400mA at 1.8V, we noticed the ripple at output is >=150mA. We would like to reduce the output ripple voltage as much as possible, would you please help revise our schematic and offer us some suggestion? Thank you. Peter

  • Dear Peter,

To begin with, If your application requires a 1.8V, you can use the TPS62054, which has a fixed output voltage of 1.8V, and cut off the FB resistors and Cff.
Moreover, to reduce the ripple Current/Voltage, please refer to page 13 and 14 from the datasheet, which explains how to choose appropriate values for your inductor and output capacitor (I noticed that you used the minimum values for both in your design).

    Best regards,
    Omar Hegazi
