LMZ10501: Enable high before Vin applied

Part Number: LMZ10501

I'm wondering what will happen to the LMZ10501SILT if the Enable pin is high before the Vin is applied.

Thanks,

Jon

  • Hi Jonathan,

It is recommended to follow the datasheet specifications of the EN pin in order to prevent EOS damage. For reference please look at Section 6.1 "Absolute Maximum Rating" which specifies the rating of EN to be at maximum VIN + 0.2V. In your application the EN pin would be at least 1.2V(V_enable_high) when VIN is 0V, thus violating the maximum rating and can potentially damage the part. As such it is recommended to have a stable input voltage and/or tie EN to VIN through a enable resistive circuit such that VIN is present before enable pin is enacted HIGH.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Jimmy,

Thanks for the quick response.  Yes that is exactly as I expected.

    Thanks,
