TLE2426: Voltage follower to increase sink/source current?

Part Number: TLE2426
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA548

Hello,

Our customer needs your help on below:

i am currently designing an op amp circuit and use a tle2426 for virtual ground. But i need to source/sink more current through the virtual ground than the tle2426 can supply. Can i simply add a powerful op amp configured as a voltage follower after the tle2426 to solve this Problem? if yes, which one of your power op amp would be best suited for this application? I need about 1A sink/source capability.

Regards,

Roland

  • Hello Roland,

Adding a power Op amp buffer should provide the sink/source output current that is needed. The OPA548 is capable of output currents up to 5 Amperes so it will easily handle the 1 Ampere load current.

I guessed at how you intend to set up the TLE2426, and then added the OPA548 as a buffer after the TLE2426. Below you can see a TINA schematic for a TLE2426/OPA548 supply splitter/power buffer idea. You can modify the circuit as needed for the application. Here is where you can find the OPA548 datasheet:

I have also attached my TINA simulation file should you want to evaluate the circuit:
