BQ24032A: High Impedance Source

Part Number: BQ24032A

Hi

I wonder if the BQ24032A is capable of operating with high impedance (solar panel) sources connected to the WALL input?

My understanding is that when the current requested in the battery charging process is greater than the panel capacity, the VIN voltage will be maintained slightly higher than Vbat (because Q1 and Q2 are conducting) providing the maximum current possible.

Is it correct?

  • Hello,
If the input voltage drops, so will the output voltage. When the output voltage drops to the DPPM voltage threshold, the charge current will be reduced to support the output. If the output voltage continues to drop to the battery voltage, the battery will supplement current to the system
