TPS7A8101: Does it make the ripple worse in case of Vin=5V,Vout=5V

Part Number: TPS7A8101

Dear all:

I'm evaluating TPS7A8101,Does it make the ripple worse in case of Vin=5V,Vout=5V?

Our demand is the normal 5V power supply. We need to get a low-noise 5V power supply. The current demand is 1A.If there is a suitable device, please help to recommend it

Thank you!

  • Hi Timsen,

LDOs operate from a higher input voltage and drop to a lower output voltage. If Vin = Vout then the device is operating in dropout mode, when operating in dropout mode there will be no gain or decrease ripple from the LDO (PSRR is severly degraded when in dropout). The AC and DC performance as stated in the datasheet will be if the LDO is in normal operating mode.

Please see our LDO Basics Chapter 1: Dropout http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slyy151a/slyy151a.pdf

    Regards.
