TPS65084: TPS65084 for intel platform

Part Number: TPS65084

Hi Sir,

Our customer old product used the TPS659842 PMIC on Braswell,

But Intel have document show the "Power delivery  on board discrete VRMs. PMIC not supported",

As I know CPU PN N3060 & N3160 & N3710 & E8000 use TPS659842 fail rate over 5% for power on sequence.

Does TPS650842 have new version for this CPU? or How can I to help customer to fixed this issue?

Hugo

  • Hugo,

The TPS650842 is the most up-to-date PMIC we have for Braswell and we have not heard of customers having any issues with it.

Are you using the industrial version of Braswell? We did not work with the industrial team, which is probably why you found that note about the PMIC not being supported.

Can you send me the document #s where you found this information?
  • Hi Nick,

The Intel Document Number is 541278 page 21.

  • Hi Hugo,

Nick has transitioned to a new role, sorry for the delay here.

TPS650842 was developed for the APL processor, but APL-I team is separate team from APL team. It seems they have chosen to not provide active support for TPS650842 given they were not involved in original APL development. TPS650842 is still expected to work with APL-I, but the Intel support team may not be as familiar with it.

Regarding failures, there are no such cases reported to TI; customer may have confusion there.
