TPS783: measured Iq is 6x higher than specified in the datasheet

Part Number: TPS783

Hello,

my customer is currently working on a new battery powered application with the TPS783 (full part number: TPS78329) and they noticed the Iq of the device is currently 30uA which is contradictory to the 0.5uA which we specify in the datasheet; in this case they cannot use our device. Is there a reason the Iq is this high?

I have a schematic of the design i can share offline.

Best regards,

Stani

  • Hi Stani,

In order for us to help debug, we need to understand the conditions under which you are making your measurements and where you are making your measurement. You mention that this is a 2.9 V output; therefore, to make a comparison to the Electrical Characteristics table, Vin should be equal 3.4 V (Vout + 0.5 V) and there should be no load current.

In order to ensure stability, the Iq measurement should be taken at the input of the LDO. As there is no load current, your input current will be equal to the quiescent current of the LDO after the input/output capacitors are fully charged.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
