ISO5852S: Sharing the power supply between the gate driver and isolation amplifier

Part Number: ISO5852S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1300

Dear sir,

we are using ISO5852S gate driver for the inverter.  Also we need to measure the inverter output current and output voltage.  we are using AMC1300 isolation amplifier for the  same.

15V, 0V, -5V power supply is used for the gate driver. Is it possible to share the 5V  (0V & -5V) supply from high side gate driver to current and voltage measurement circuit. We wish to share the 5V supply to individual phase voltage and current of high side in AMC1300.

Kindly request you to confirm the same to proceed further.

Thanking you.

Thanks & regards,

Rajasekaran.

  • Hello Rajasekaran,

It would be possible but it is not desirable. Depending on the type of bias supply you are using, the tolerance of the output voltage is probably not tight enough for accurate measurements. Typically, the high-side voltage, 15 V in this case, is fed through an LDO to provide the stable 5 V supply for the isolated amplifiers.

    Regards,
    Audrey
