LM5022: PMP9648 reference design missing drill files

Part Number: LM5022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP9648,

Hello,

I want to build the reference design PMP9648.  There are no drill files; only Gerber drill files.  I have tried 3 PCB manufacturers and none will accept these.  I have no method of converting the Gerber drill files into NC Drill files.

Please can you generate the drill files and send them to me?

Thanks,

James

  • Hi James,

Thank you for considering the LM5022 and the PMP9648. We will see if we can find out the original design files. Note that the design was created about 5 years ago, and our documentation means have changed a lot, and hopefully we can still get the original design file.

    Thanks,

  • I've managed to create a drill file from the Gerbers.

I edited PMP9648 REVB.GG1 (the drill guide) using NotePad++ to remove the border data and a Gerber viewer to check I hadn't removed the drill location cross-hairs.  Once I had a Gerber file with just the cross-hairs, I extracted the drill position.  Each cross-hair is drawn as follows:

    X0093700Y0228600D02*
    X0098700D01*
    X0096200Y0226100D02*
    Y0231100D01*

The drill location is the Y value on the first line and the X value on the third line.  This is written to the NC Drill file as:

    X0096200Y0228600.

Then I added the tool sizes and assigned the coordinates to the appropriate tool. It didn't take too long.

I've attached the file in case it's useful for anyone else.
