TPS7B82-Q1: Enable voltage explanation

Part Number: TPS7B82-Q1

Hi team,

I noticed on the datasheet, the Enable input voltage is 0-Vin range. However,  i got a bit confused about the logic-input high/low level below.

Is this like a hysteresis? Or how to understand here?

Thanks a lot for your help

Gene

  • Hi Gene,

Linear regulators like TPS7B82-Q1 with an enable function are designed so that a logic high input will enable the output while a logic low input will disable the output of the regulator.

The Electrical Characteristics table shows that TPS7B82-Q1 will register any voltage below 0.7 V as a logic low. As such in order to disable the output, the EN pin should be driven below 0.7 V. Similarly TPS7B82-Q1 will register any voltage above 2 V as a logic high. As such in order to enable the output, the EN pin should be driven above 2 V.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
