I noticed TPS65950 has gpio . Does it require programming ?

Hi Chase,

The OMAP processor can control the GPIO behavior through software. The Technical Reference Manual has more information on the registers: www.ti.com/.../swcu050

I was shopping around the Sitara line and the AM3703 supported beageboard xm has a TPS65950 powering the device and providing audio, real time clocking, and power to the AM3703.

If I am not using the GPIO, can I use the audio, clocking and power without programming the registers ?

Hi Chase,

The AM3703 team may be able to help with any software related questions. My understanding is the software decides what the balls are programmed as. For example, whether ball P12 is GPIO0 or JTAG.TDO.

TPS65950 is Not Recommended for New Designs though, so I would recommend trying to keep any changes to a minimum. If you have to change something compared to the Beagleboard XM, you will be more or less on your own in this case.

Hi Chase,

There is no programming tool; it's controlled by the boot software of the processor.
