UCC28C40: UCC28C40 and CSD19502Q5B was demage

Part Number: UCC28C40
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19502Q5B,

Dear,

we use UCC28C40 and CSD19502Q5B, power up moments, MOS peak current 8A, and then IC and MOS was demage.

schematic as below chart:

If any suggestion, Please advise me.

Thanks,

Best regards,

  • Hi Lawerence,

I would power the controller from a separate bench supply at 12V and then increase the input voltage to the power stage slowly while observing the PWM gate drive signal, main mosfet drain voltage and the voltage on the CS resistor.

I would also set the current limit on the DC source to a low value like 100 or 200mA to start with and see if the output voltage starts to rise when the input voltage is slowly increased.

Pleas also check the secondary side for short circuits due to build issue by connecting the output to a DC source and slowly increasing the output voltage while measuring the current sourced by the bench supply. It should be possible to bias the output at its regulation value while only delivering some 10's mA from the bench supply.
