EV2400: Fails and LEDS off after attempt to update to firmware 0.28

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27531EVM,

I have a new EV2400 and used it for one day with a BQ27531EVM. When I tried to update the EV2400 firmware today to version 0.28, it stopped working. The suspected firmware update said "Performing Mass Erase.." and then exited the shell immediately.

I now plug the device in, and the device manager seems to recognize the Composite USB device and Vendor ID 2047. The update program does not see it. The lights do not come on with any sequence of inserting the cables or attaching the board.

Now all I get are these responses to running the updater:

C:\ti\EV2400Updater-0.28>.\EV2400_Updater_v0028.exe -s

Skipping putting EV2400 in FWUpdate mode

Performing Mass Erase...

  • Unfortunately it looks like you have bricked the ev2400. The -s option should force detect an ev2400 and skip putting the ev2400 in fw update mode but at this point I'm not sure where the failure is. We advise you to disconnect other devices and turn off the AV as it might interfere with the update. At this point, I'm not sure you can do anything else except use another ev2400.

  • Thanks for the confirmation, that is what I suspected. But I do take a slight issue with the "you have bricked.." part of this. As lightweight as it is, I disabled Windows Antivirus and have the same results.

How do I request a replacement for this, since it clearly did not survive the TI recommended firmware update procedure?

  • Hi Jeff,

I apologize for the choice of words. I meant the device is bricked. If you have a field agent assigned, please contact him for a replacement or you can email the estore.
