UCC21530-Q1: Question about Functional isolation between channels

Part Number: UCC21530-Q1

Hello Team,

I'm Yuta Kurimoto TIJ FAE.

I have some questions about functional isolation between channels.

Q. Can you show how to implement this functional isolation?

Q. Can you show how to test this isolation barrier quality at production test?

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hi Yuta,

Thanks for your help promoting our drivers, my name is Mamadou Diallo from the High Power Drivers team.

This functional isolation is implemented internally in the driver and can withstand working voltages up to 1850V. If implementing this externally, many factors need to be accounted for such as creepage, clearance between high and low-side channels paths, material groups used as well as pollution degree.

The white paper on the link below discusses high voltage isolation parameters and test methodology in detail.

The additional links below discuss common general isolation topics and key parameters to consider from a gate driver perspective.

  • Hello Mamadou,

    Thanks for your answer.

Let me elaborate for each questions.

    1) Can you show how to implement this functional isolation?

What I wanted to ask was that the method for functional isolation. Does the functional isolation mean there is "no pattern area" on the Die?

    2) Can you show how to test this isolation barrier quality at production test?

I know the isolation testing method for input-to-output barrier testing. However I don't know the method how to test the functional isolation rating.

I want to know how to test channel-to-channel isolation.

    Thanks,

    Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hello Yuta-san,

    Thanks for following up.

Let's take this discussion off line, I will reach out to you via email.

In the meantime, I will mark this thread as resolved and close it.

If you have additional applications questions on our drivers, please feel to post here.

    Regards,
