TPS2120: About SS pin voltage

Part Number: TPS2120

Hi,

Please tell us about the SS pin voltage during normal operation.

Q1
Is the SS pin voltage discharged when switching between IN1 and IN2?

Q2
In steady state, what is the voltage on the SS pin?
I do not know because there is no internal block diagram.

Best regards,
Yuto Sakai

  • Hi Yuto,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

As described in section 9.3.1, the SS cap will charge up once during a TDELAY and TRISE sequence. For example, if VIN1 ramps up from 0V to 12V, the CSS cap will be used to ramp up TD and TRISE. After this sequence, the cap is discharged. Once VIN2 starts to ramp up, the SS Cap will also be used again.

During steady state, the voltage on the SS pin will be approximately 0V. The SS will not be used when switching between inputs, since the SS is only used during the initial startup.

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang
