BQ27542-G1: Battery Charge and Discharge Procedures

Part Number: BQ27542-G1

Greetings,

I have a couple questions concerning battery charge and discharge with the BQ27642-G1 module.
In order to Charge the battery ;

From what i understood, the charger should be connected to PACK+ and PACK- entries. But should it be a specific type of charger (a model maybe?) or do I just need
a Power Supply (a DC Generator with voltage stabilization for example) and try having a current level around the rates presented in the documentation ?

For Discharge :

It's nearly the same question. But for the load to use in order to discharge, is there a specific type of load to use or can i get away with using a simple resistor while aiming for the discharge current to be at the recommended rates ?

Thanks
Tarak

  • Hi Tarak,

    You can use a power supply as the charger and then limit the current accordingly to suit the charge current of the cell.

    Use an electronic load and set it to constant current mode. A resistor will not give you constant current.

    thanks
