LMZ30606EVM-003: Marking on IC displays TPS84610, not the expected LMZ30606

Part Number: LMZ30606EVM-003
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS84610, , LMZ30606

I am doing a failure test for the LMZ30606 6A Power Module using the evaluation board LMZ30606EVM-003. The evaluation board's IC marking say "TPS84610" instead of the expected "LMZ30606" that the datasheet declares as the Power Module's marking. TPS84610 is an active TI part number for a 6-A Synchronous Buck, which looks very similar. Is one a newer version of the other, and the manufacturing still uses the TPS marking, or did the wrong part get attached to the evaluation Board? I have 3 evaluation boards total that all have the TPS marking, but the actual LMZ30606 used on the deliverable card had the "LMZ30606" marking as expected. Are they the same part with different part numbers, or do the evaluation boards have the wrong part?

  • Hello Jacquelyn,

This is exactly the same part. At some point the TPS part number was converted/renamed to LMZ. It is possible that there were evaluation boards built with the older part marking, but the module is exactly the same. The only difference is the top mark.

    Cheers,
