LM3424-Q1: can I use LM3424 -Q1 IC for more than 5 A application

Part Number: LM3424-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3424

thank you so much for this information but i want to use LM3424 as LED Driver in buck mode. My current requirement is 8A, is it possible?

  • Shikha,

Sorry for the delay. Please give me until early next week to answer this question. I need to check with other engineers internally.

I will close the other thread in which you asked this question for now and get back to this thread.

    Thanks

    Sumeet

  • Shikha,

It should be possible to use the LM3424 as a buck with high current.

One thing you should consider is that you will need to size the LED current sense such that there is 100mV of signal in order to have good percentage accuracy, which will mean that you have 800mW of loss in the current sense resistor.

This is true regardless of whether it is used as a buck or boost.

    Hope this helps you.

    Regards,

    Sumeet
