TPS65055: How each PIN works and how to use it

Part Number: TPS65055
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9548A

Currently, our customers are reviewing tps65055.

There are currently three questions to ask for confirmation.

1. Is it possible to connect only one TPS65055 to one I2C line?
We want to connect multiple TPS65055s to one I2C line.

2. Is the discharge, threshold the UVLO part?

3. DPD and RST are shown as Open drain output. Is there any reason why I need this Pin?
Can it be processed by NC?

  • Hi,

I have forwarded your request to responsible applications engineer, but he is out of office this week and there may be slight delay in providing the feedback.

  • Hi Kim,

    1) All TPS65055 devices use the same I2C address, requiring a multiplexer like the TCA9548A to share a single I2C bus.

    2) The device has a DISCHARGE pin that is directly controlled by a comparator monitoring the THRESHOLD pin. This threshold value is typically 1V.

2.a) The regulators have internal discharge resistors while the regulator's enable pin is low. This circuitry may not be functional when Vcc is below UVLO.

    3) DPD and RST are for flexibility, and can be left floating if unused.

    Best Regards,

    Rick S.
