TPS3700: Cheaper alternative

Hello team,

I would need a voltage supervisor to verify that the input stage with 12V..250V input rail is generating an output voltage of at least 7V (generally between 7 and 10V).

I noticed that the TPS3700 is a good candidate but too expensive, TLV809 is cheap but limited in voltage range (would avoid voltage partition if possibile); do you have any alternative?

Hi Adrian,

I understand you need a voltage supervisor with wide Vin for your application. One of our newer devices, the TPS3840, provides an operating voltage of between 1.5 V and 10 V. This allows monitoring of 9V rails without external components and 24V rails with external resistors. This is also more of a cost optimized solution, but it does not support 12V itself.

Hi Abhinav,

thanks for the recommendation but since I'm monitoring an output voltage between 7 and 10V the TPS3840 is very on the limit, ideally it would be better to have some margin.

Do you have any other recommendation with a broader voltage? What about the TPS3510/11, do you see any issue with using them?

Adrian,

I recommend taking a look at our Voltage supervisors (reset ICs) Quick reference guide to further your search for a Wide Vin supervisor. You can see the devices that support higher Vin and the 1ku pricing is on the very right. Th TPS3710 might be more along the lines of what you are looking for, and we don't really see the TPS3510/1 being used outside of PC power supplies but it can be applied.
