UCC21732QDWEVM-025: How does overlapping protection circuit work?

Part Number: UCC21732QDWEVM-025

Hi team,

I feel confused about the overlapping protection circuit. What is the signal of INE+ and INE-? How should I connect those signals between two EVMs in half-bridge application? How does the overlapping protection circuit work? Thank you.

  • Hi Arie,

Thanks for your question. Let's call the Upper EVM - EVM1 - and the Lower EVM - EVM2 - for a half-bridge configuration.

Your input signals for EVM1 will connect to IN+ and IN- and the input signals for EVM2 will connect to its corresponding IN+ and IN-.

    - Connect EVM1 IN+ to EVM2 INE+. Connect EVM1 IN- to EVM2 INE-.

    - Connect EVM2 IN+ to EVM1 INE+. Connect EVM2 IN- to EVM1 INE-.

In this way, the logic AND gate takes in both positive input signals and prevents the devices from being ON at the same time. If both devices are ON at the same time, IN-/INE- will be forced to go high and will shut down both devices.

    Regards,

    Audrey
