LM25118-Q1: suitable solution for Vin=3V-18V, Vo=13V, Iout=28A with AEC-Q100

Part Number: LM25118-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM34936, LM25118, LM34936-Q1

Hi team,

Could you advise me if we have suitable solution for below requirement?

Vin=3V-18V, Vo=13V, Iout=28A with AEC-Q100

Is LM25118-Q1 or suitable?

Thanks.

Regards,

Allen

  • Hi Allen,

    Thank you for reaching out. The power is 28A x 13V = 364W.  Even if it is 100% efficiency, you will need to draw 121A current when Vin drops to 3V, sounds excessive for any single converter.

    The LM25118 cannot efficiently support 364W.  You need a converter using the sync FETs like the LM34936-Q1.  You should consider 2x LM34936, and use the simple current balancing scheme presented in the following article.
