BQ4050EVM-561: Updating the Full Charge Capacity (FCC) register

Hi, I'm using BQstudio to monitor a battery. I have a few problems.

1) BQstudio is reading that the full charge capacity is 4400 mAh, my actual battery capacity (2S) is somewhere between 5000 and 6000 mAh. How can I update the full charge capacity? I tried completely discharging the battery, but it didn't change.

2) The temperature read by BQstudio is -273.2 C. How is this possible? how to update it? I tried enabling all thermistors, but it didn't change.

3) Does the BQ4050 normalize the capacity of the battery according to the value in Full Charge Capacity register?

Hi Omar,

You need to perform a learning cycle and only then can you use the gauge. Please calculate the parameters for your gauge using GPCCEDV and then run a chg, relax, dsg cycle to update FCC. You can read about CEDV here,

What about the temperature register? Would it also adjust after the learning cycle?

Hi Omar,

The temperature register will update as the thermistor senses the pin depending on your configuration. The default is temperature enable set to 06 and temperature mode set to 04. This means TS1 measures cell temp and TS2 your FET temp.
