BQ2003: Charging

Hello,

We use BQ2003 to charge 9.6V battery pack ( 8 cells x 1.2V). The input supply is 15V. Many times it gives wrong indication of charging complete when it is not charged fully. Please suggest some check points to sort out this issue.

Hi Murugavel,

CHG status pin indicates what state of charge BQ2003 is in. Figure 3. State diagram shows how CHG pin should behave during trickle charge, battery absent, fast CHG and when charge complete. You can also look at Figure 2. Charge cycle phase, to see how CHG should behave.

Thanks for the reply.

The CHG pin status changes okay, but it gives charging complete signal before the battery is fully charged. The indication is misguiding.

Hi Murugavel,

What is battery voltage sensed by BQ2003 when CHG status indicates charge complete? Can you show a waveform of charge current, CHG, and vbat (sensed by BQ2003)?
