WEBENCH® Tools/BQ500210: Calculate design for the coil WURTH

Part Number: BQ500210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500212A, BQ500511A, BQ50002A

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

Can you tell me how found information for calculate the design for the coil Ref :760308102212 ?

Best regards.

Lionel

  • Hello Lionel

The BQ500210 is an older device without FOD protection circuit.  Also is a 19V input and uses an WPC A1 coil with L value of 24uH.  Do not recommend changing the coil or power section.

A better device to look at would be the BQ500212A or BQ50002A + BQ500511A.  They have FOD, operate from 5V buss and used WPC A5/A11 coil, L=6.3uH.

But due to high circulating currents in the LC tank circuit the DCR of the coil needs to be low.

  • Hi Johns,

Actually we have  BQ5002A+BQ50511A with Coil Ref Wurth : 760308102212 with L=5,4 uH.

On some PCB we realized we have problem  a trouble operating the induction.

Or when I put the receiver we can see pulse on SW1 and SW2 and no continuous operation see picture  and we can see a variation of the current on power 5V.

    Thanks you for u-you answer.

    Best regards.

  • Hello Lionel

    Working with the BQ5002A+BQ50511A is good, recommend testing with one of the standard WPC A5 / A11 6.3uH coils, Wurth P/N 760 308 105 or 760 308 111.

The Wurth 760308102212 appears to be an RX coil with higher DCR and lower I-SAT.

  • Hello Johns,

But when I try with 760308102212 it works.

But what I do not understand is why I have 50 PCBs made 13 that does not work. And when I change CI BQ5002+BQ50511A and put the coil 760 308 105 not working. Is strange??

    I don't understand.

    Thank you for you answer.

    Best regards.
