BQ24081-Q1: Does ISET charge current support on-the-fly resistance change

Part Number: BQ24081-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25155

Hi team,

My customer would like to use BQ24081-Q1 to achieve below functions.

  1. Max charge current to 250mA when battery temperature is -20 to +50C
  2. Max charge current need to limit to 20mA when battery temperature is -40 to +85C

Is it possible to achieve? (I think the problem is ISET resistance can be changed dynamically or not?)

If BQ24081-Q1 can't do, may I have your help to recommend other parts?

Below are the requirements.

1. Vin = 5V.

2. Charge current = 250mA max.

3. 1S2P Li-ion battery.

4. AEC-Q100 needed.

Thank you.

Regards,

Allen

  • Hi Allen

The ISET could be used to dynamically change the Max Charge current.  But external circuit would be needed to monitor the temp, not sure if the TS pin could be used or if this would need to be another circuit / MCU.

We have other devices, the BQ25155 would be a good fit BUT is not AEC-Q100.
