TPS40322: Remote Sense

Part Number: TPS40322

Hi E2E,

Could you kindly let us know how to calculate the resistor of remote sense? Is it simply Low-Pass filter?

If the resistor is too large, maybe 200~300k ohm (wrong component on PCB), Does VOUT will reach for OVP because RemSNS+/- sense nothing?

If we don't need the remote sense function. how to modify the circuit? floating or connect to GND?

  • Hi Julian,

Usually we suggest to use the remote sense resistor below 100 ohm.

If the resistor value is too large such as 200k, the input leakage current of remote sense pin will affect output regulation.

If remote sense function is not needed, connect TPS40322 remote sense pin to ground. Floating is not suggested because the noise may couple to the pin and damage the pin.

    Thanks

    Qian
