TPS54424: Design Review

Hi,

I do need the design review for TPS54424 circuit.

Regulator  Design Efficiency
TPS54424 0.84V @ 2.5A 85.12%
TPS54424 1.8V @ 1.4A 90.52%

        Can you please share the WEBENCH design for these 2 applications?

    Also, can you give us information on the following.

    1. DC voltage tolerance (% or mV)

    2. Output ripple requirement (% or mV)

    3. Output transient (undershoot, overshoot) requirement (% or mV)

    4. Transient load step size to meet transient (% or mV)

    5. Max operating ambient temperature.

  • Hi Ranjana,

    I have taken a brief look and everything looks as expected. I did not do any actual calculations for the component values but they look to be in the typical range. If you need help with calculating the values I suggest either WEBENCH or the equations in the apps section of the datasheet. If there is any specific challenges you need this design to meet let us know and I can help take a closer look.

    Two component placeholders which would be good to add are:

    1. Feedfoward capacitor in parallel with the top resistor in the FB divider. This can help with tuning the transient response if needed.
    2. 0 Ω resistor in series with the BOOT pin and the 100 nF cap. If you have any issues caused by non ideal pcb layout, populating this with a 2.2-4.7Ω resistor can help.
