LM3414HV: lm3414 makes faint light when turn off the LED.

Part Number: LM3414HV

Hi.

I used LM3414HV for LED driver. I used 9W RGB LEDx3.

But it makes faint light when turn off the LED.

Supply voltage is 12V and LX voltage is 5.3V(blue) / 6.18V(green) / 7.62V(red). I think this LV voltage is too low.

Why happened this situations?

I attached the circuit. Please check it out and solve the problem.

  • Hello HJ Kim68,

The LX pin has a small amount of leakage, the datasheet has this on page 5 as Ilxoff, at 6.5 uA.  A high value resistor across your LEDs can allow the current in the LEDs to go to zero.  I would try 500 Kohms to start with.  Your diode also has reverse leakage that depends on operating temperature and reverse voltage.  This may require the loading resistor to be a lower value.

    Best Regards,
