I am not getting the PFC design to work properly and my output voltage level was less than input. Also the current waveform was badely distorted.

My input voltage varies from 5 to 70 v AC.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this problem.

can you share the schematic to me and offer me more information about the project?

input voltage range,PFC output,power level.

Hi David,

The design is based on the recommended design from TI documentation with minor changes that suites the UC3854B

The input voltage range is 5-60 VAC

PFC output was around 30VAC at Vin =60VAC

Output current waveform was very distorted.

from you description, when input at 60VAC, the output is only 30VDC?

is it correct?

If this is correct, the applicance is a buck PFC solution, I do not think UC3854B is a good choice.

Ti has UCC29910A, can you please check the datasheet to see whether it meets your requirment? thanks.

Hi David,

The main purpose of the circuit is to correct the power factor ,not necessarily to boost the voltage buts its definitely a welcomed side effect.

Which chip do you think can help me more?

you can reach out to UCC29910A. This is a buck type PFC controller.
