Hi team, 

I have a question to USB charging port controller/

Can this TPS2549 control current limit while data line connection?

Could you tell me your recommended device if the TPS2549 cannot support power supply while data line connection?

    Hello Nishimura,

    The TPS2549 can support data communication. The TPS2549 uses CDP mode to enable up to 1.5-A fast charging of most of the portable devices while supporting data communication. 

    In order to enable CDP mode, set CTL1, CTL2, CTL3 high. If you are using CDP mode, the current limit being used will be the high current limit. This current limit can be set using the ILIM_HI resistor.

    Can I ask additional question? 

    In case of need to set two current-limit in CDP mode, can TPS2549 have two current-limit in CDP mode in somehow? If it's difficult, is there other recommend device for setting two current limit in CDP mode.

    Hello Nishimura,

    The TPS2549 does not have the input pin to select between current limits. However, the TPS2546 has an input pin "ILIM_SEL" that allows an EC to select the current limit in certain modes. This will enable an EC to switch between having a high current and a low current limit in select modes.
