Hi Team, i would like to know how the simple switcher LMxxx series eliminates the need for an external Inductor, while designing a dc-dc converter/power supply. how effective the integrated inductor does the function of using external inductors.. Does these switches make the design more simple with very less external components? Passive components manufacturers (inductors) clarifies that, simple switchers integrated inductors has lot of limitation and any DC-DC converter circuit needs wide range of inductance and that needs an external component. please clarify. thank you.

    Hi Seetha,

    We have module products like LMZ14201, it doesn't need inductor because it is integrated inside the IC. We also have converter products like LM2574, it still needs external inductor. Both of them work very well and don't have limitation.
