BQ76930EVM: BQ76930EVM: charge discharge loop

Part Number: BQ76930EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400, BQ76930, BQ78350-R1

Hi all,

i have some questions about BQ76930EVM:

1) I want to execute a cycle life test on a battery module made by 8 cells using BQ76930EVM and BQSTUDIO. The cycle life test execution foreseen a charge discharge cycles (about 1000 cycles).  Is there possible to put on an automatic test bench that automatically charge/discharge battery module using the BQSTUDIO and BQ76930EVM? Practically is there possible to programming the bqstudio to send repeatedly the charge and discharge commands? Clearly in addition to BQSTUDIO and BQ76930EVM, an automatic management of power supply (charge phase) and  Dc Electronic Load (discharge) must be used.

2) What is the content of the BQ76930EVM? Is there together the BQ2026EVM that stores some information??   The memory is necessary to execute the test at point 1?

3) BQ76930EVM works with EV2300 or it requires only EV2400?

4) I don't want to execute balancing on my 8 cells module, so can i do not balancing?

  • Ciao Domenico,
Thank you for your continued interest in BQ76930. We are out of the office (Thanksgiving) but one of our engineers will answer as soon as we are back at the office.

  • Hi Domenico,

    1. In such a test you must cycle the electronic load and charger, BQStudio will only report the condition of the gauge.  You will need some control software and interfaces which can talk to your equipment.  BQStudio could log data but may not be suitable for 1000 cycles.

    2. The BQ76930EVM does not interface to the BQ2026EVM.  Data would be read from the BQ78350-R1 on the BQ76930EVM with BQStudio and stored in a file in the PC.

    3. The BQ76930 EVM is supported by both the EV2300 and EV2400

    4. You do not need to do balancing.  Simple configure the BQ78350-R1 to not do balancing.  See its technical reference manual.
