LP3965: Theta Jc

Part Number: LP3965

Team,

I see that the operating junction temperature of the below devices is listed in the datasheet, however the junction temp is calculated using Theta Ja values. our customer can only measure the case. can we provide the junction to case thermal resistance i.e Theta Jc? or the relationship between Theta Ja and Theta Jc?

If possible for the below devices:

LP3879MR-1.2

LP3856ES-2.5/NOPB

LP3965ES-2.5

LP3965ES-ADJ

  • Hi Michael,

First, to answer the question of the difference between Tja and Tjc, Tja is the best parameter to predict the thermal performance in the application. Tjc is just one of the thermal paths from the junction to the ambient. The best parameter to use to verify thermal performance in the application is the Psy jc characterization parameter.

Now that being said, this information is not currently in the datasheet. If this is needed, it has been taken several weeks to get the Psy jc data from the packaging team.

I hope this answers your question.
