WEBENCH® Tools/LM3429: Maximum Wattage of LM3429 LED driver

Part Number: LM3429

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I am using LM3429 LED driver for my buck converter design. Input is 60V to 72V and Output is 48V.

I need to know maximum wattage i can go using LM3429 LED driver ?

I need to design for 100W. But the dimension of the IC is too small so i am bit worried.

If LM3429 IC is not suitable for my application can please suggest me another LED driver for my application.

  • Hi Naveen,

The LM3429 is a controller so it can be designed to provide 100W output since the main power loss on the converter is the external power FET.  There will still be power dissipation on the LM3429 for driving the external FET so care still need to be done on the design.

    Thanks Tuan

  • Hi Tuan,

Can you please send me a schematic of LM3429 controller for driving 100W lED load.

    Input voltgae = 40V to 72V DC

    Output Voltage = 48V DC

    Output current = 2.2A

    Thanks Naveen

  • Hello Naveen,

In general, we do not do detail design for your specific application on E2E.  We do have example design in the data sheet that you can follow.  Please see the Buck application in section 8.2.7 of the data sheet to help you with your application.

    Thanks Tuan
