LM2842: LM2842XMK tech issue

Part Number: LM2842

Dear TI,

Recently there is something wrong with our products using LM2842XMK-ADJL/NOPB, we provide the input of 24V/70mA, but some IC were destroyed afrer powering up.Now 6pcs failed in 12pcs.Could you please review our design below and give us some advice, Thank you.

  • Hi Derek,

I would recommend having electrolytic bulk of 100uF or 47uF (try both) on this input with relatively high ESR to dampen the line transient oscillations. I would recommend reading through the Input Voltage protection section on this document and deploy all the required recommendations until you get your problem resolved.

Let me know if you have more questions. Thanks!
