LP5907: No EVM for the 4.5V ?

Part Number: LP5907

Team,

It seems that the LP5907 EVM card is available for devices up to 3.3V (ie LP5907UV-3.3EVM):

What is the reason why there is no 4.5V version?
Would the EVM PCB support 4.5V? Was it designed to withstand more than 1W?
If yes do you have some tips to safely and easily replace the BGA on the EVM with a 4.5V derivative?

Thanks in advance,

A.

  • Hi AnBer,

For fixed output LDOs, the EVM usually only have some of the output voltage options. You can replace the unit on the EVM and put a 4.5V device there without a problem. The board should be able to handle 1W, but the device itself has very high Rja, and it limits the power the device can deliver without hitting the 125C junction temperature limit.

For the BGA soldering tips, we don't have an app note on this topic, but if you search "BGA soldering" on YouTube, there are plenty of video instructions and you could find some there. If you do have running into a specific soldering issue that you could find an answer, feel free to post photos or videos for us to look at, we can definitely provide any possible help we can offer.

    Regards,
